The Rim Fire that burned during late summer this year was unprecedented in recorded history for the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Calfornia. I took a trip out to Yosemite over Veterans Day weekend to have a look at the aftermath of this fire. Driving in and out of the park on Hwy 120 was at times surreal. There are spots where the fire skipped, others where the trees have burned all the way up into the crowns and everything in between along the road. The visible signs of fire devastation began around 20 miles outside the park in the Stanislaus National Forest.
